Between 1987 and 1990, global warming shifted from a scientific murmur to a governmental priority in Britain, driven by pressing concerns about security, economic stability, and global responsibility. This blog explores why climate change captured attention during these years, how Thatcher\u2019s government tackled\u2014or sidestepped\u2014these worries, and how her approach measured up against other nations. Yet, her domestic caution, shackled by neoliberalism, kept Britain from the vanguard. Germany and the Nordics rewrote their energy playbooks; Thatcher tinkered with hers.
